Diesel price expected to reach €2 per liter by end of the month

Fuel prices in the country continue to rise. On September 16, the price of diesel increased by 3 cents and that of gasoline by 1 cent, Dimitar Hadjidimitrov, Deputy Chairman of the Association of Bulgarian Traders, Producers, Importers and Transporters of Fuels, told bTV.

According to him, this will not be the final rise of the week. "Diesel and gasoline prices are set to rise by at least another 2 cents by the end of the week," he said, noting that the average price of diesel is already around €1.95 per liter, while gasoline is close to €1.70.

He identifies the price of oil as one of the factors driving the increase. However, other causes include a global diesel fuel shortage, the closure of refineries in Europe, and ongoing military conflicts that are driving up transport and insurance costs. Hadjidimitrov says that the price of diesel in Bulgaria will soon reach approximately €2 per liter, though he does not expect it to cross that threshold before the end of September.
