The Ministry of Interior must ensure transparent and fair elections. This was stated by Prime Minister Rumen Radev at a national meeting of the ministry regarding the upcoming presidential elections on October 25. He urged law enforcement officers to be uncompromising but to act within the law.
"The Ministry of Interior cannot be a party to
the political process. Its primary task is to guarantee that every
Bulgarian citizen can freely exercise their right to vote," he
said, as quoted by reporter Nikolay Hristov.
The
Prime Minister also pointed out the fight against drug trafficking. He
further stated that he expects police officers on the street to look
presentable and possess English language skills. "When I visit
other countries, I always look for this, and I can tell you that
where there are truly disciplined and capable police officers who
speak foreign languages, the overall crime rate is lower," the
Prime Minister said.
