Ruse will celebrate one of its culinary symbols, Garash, a rich Bulgarian chocolate and walnut cake, with a two-day festival on September 19 and 20. The fifth edition of the festival will feature culinary challenges, children’s activities, music and art, as well as opportunities to explore the history of the Danube city, Ruse Municipality said.
The festival opens at 10 am on Saturday outside the municipal building, when a competition for the best Garash cake also gets under way. This year, contestants will compete in three categories – traditional, non-traditional and homemade. There will also be confectionery demonstrations, with visitors getting a chance to taste the cakes.
A children’s confectionery masterclass with chef Ivan Aleksandrov will run outside the Opera House from 10 am to 4 pm on both days.
Queen Sensation will perform outside the municipal building at 8 pm on September 19, followed by a laser show by Andy Faulkner at 10 pm.
