SpaceX invites pilot Nikolay Kalaydzhiev to serve as an astronaut

Elon Musk’s company, SpaceX, has invited Bulgarian record-breaking pilot Nikolay Kalaydzhiev to participate in two of their missions. The company was impressed by the achievement of the Bulgarian, listed in the Guinness Book of Records, of performing 1,021 aircraft takeoffs and landings in 14 hours.

"I have been invited not just as part of the crew, but to be the pilot of the mission, which is a tremendous recognition for me and my team," Kalaydzhiev told bTV. According to him, such an event would provide a massive boost to the development of the Bulgarian space sector. "My manager was in Washington and spoke with SpaceX headquarters and they actually travelled from Los Angeles to see us in action," Kalaydzhiev also said.
