118 Years of Independence: military bands and fireworks in Veliko Tarnovo

On September 22, Veliko Tarnovo serves as the center of the celebrations for Bulgaria's Independence Day. 118 years after Tsar Ferdinand’s manifesto, the city will once again mark one of the nation's most significant state events, according to the Veliko Tarnovo Municipality.
At 7:30 a.m., Bishop Matey of Nikopol will hold a
festive liturgy at the Church of the Holy Forty Martyrs, attended by
the Speaker of Parliament, Mihaela Dotsova. A historical reenactment
of the events of September 22, 1908 is scheduled to take place in the
church courtyard.
At
11:30 a.m., a festive procession featuring citizens, guests,
children, and military musicians from Bulgaria, the USA, and Türkiye
will move from the square in front of Tsarevets Fortress to the
Municipality building. At 12:30 p.m., the International Military
Brass Bands Festival parade will take place in front of the
Municipality, followed by a concert program in the afternoon.
The
celebrations will conclude at Tsar Asen I Square with a ceremonial
salute at 7:30 p.m., followed by the "Tsarevgrad Tarnov –
Sound and Light" spectacle and a festive fireworks display at
8:15 p.m.
