Peace, diplomacy, and the need for concrete solutions to end global conflicts were the key messages on the first day of the UN General Assembly session in New York. This was stated by President Iliana Iotova following meetings during her first day at the forum. "If we were to identify the most frequently used word today, it would be 'peace,'" she said. However, according to the President, mere statements are no longer sufficient as the international community must move toward concrete political and diplomatic solutions.

President Iotova has already held meetings with UN Secretary-General António Guterres, her Slovak counterpart Peter Pellegrini, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk, World Jewish Congress President Ronald Lauder, and King Abdullah II of Jordan.

On September 23, at approximately 2:00 PM (9:00 PM Bulgarian time), the head of state will deliver her address during the general policy debate at the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.
