China-born French singer Siuli Lin to perform Bulgarian folk music in Palma

Singer Siuli Lin, who performs Bulgarian folk music, will be among the participants in the fifth edition of the international BalkanFolk Festival, taking place on October 2 and 3 in Palma de Mallorca, in front of La Seu Cathedral. The event is organised by the Bulgarian association BalkanFolk-Mallorca, which announced the programme in a Facebook post cited by the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA).

“Born in China and raised in France, this lyrical soprano, with an outstanding academic and professional career, chose to settle in Bulgaria. In love with our country, she has immersed herself completely in the Balkan spirit: she speaks the language, dances the horo, embraces the exuberant spirit of Bulgarian celebrations and sings with extraordinary passion. With exceptional professionalism, reading and learning the original lyrics in Cyrillic, she devotes her vocal artistry entirely to authentic Bulgarian folklore and traditional songs, conveying their true emotion through her voice,” the organisers said.

This year’s International BalkanFolk Festival will feature 32 groups and performers from 11 countries: Bulgaria, Spain, France, Ukraine, Lithuania, Russia, the Philippines, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia, the organisers announced earlier.
