The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) expects Bulgaria’s economy to grow by 2.7% in 2026 and 2.5% in 2027, leaving its forecasts unchanged from June. Real GDP grew by 2.8% year on year in the first half of 2026, after growth of 3.4% in 2024 and 3.1% in 2025.

In its September Regional Economic Prospects report, the EBRD said Bulgaria’s economy remained resilient in the first half of 2026, helped by strong domestic demand, investment and improving exports, despite higher inflation and weaker public finances.

Industrial production returned to growth after falling significantly in 2025, while services and construction continued to grow steadily. Exports fell sharply in the first quarter but partly recovered by mid-year.
