International researchers discuss Bulgaria’s economic history

Researchers from Bulgaria and abroad will gather in Dryanovo on September 25 and 26 for an international conference on Bulgaria’s economic history. The event is organised by the History Museum and the Centre for Economic History Research, museum director Ivan Hristov told BTA.

The conference will feature research on the Ottoman period, the years after Bulgaria’s Liberation, the socialist era and the present day. Some of the papers will be presented in English by researchers from foreign academic institutions, including the Institute for Southeast European Studies.

The programme also includes the presentation of the two-volume “Economic History of Bulgarians in the Ottoman Empire (15th–early 20th century)”, which traces five centuries of Bulgarian economic life under Ottoman rule.
