Bulgaria joins UN declaration on Ukraine

Bulgaria upholds European unity and has accordingly joined the UN declaration on Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a written position, BTA reports.

More than 50 countries signed the document ahead of the UN Security Council's meeting on Ukraine. The declaration calls on Russia to agree to a full, immediate, and unconditional ceasefire in Ukraine and to begin substantive peace negotiations. "We call on Russia to finally do the same as a necessary step towards meaningful diplomacy and negotiations leading to peace,” the text reads.

According to a list published on the website of Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bulgaria is among the 51 countries that signed the declaration. A check by BTA revealed that the statement was signed by all 27 EU Member States. Türkiye, Serbia, and Kosovo are not included in the list of Balkan nations.
