Sofia calls on Skopje to fulfil EU accession negotiation conditions

Bulgaria expects North Macedonia to fulfil its commitments and initiate the necessary changes to advance on its European path. This is stated in a position issued by the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as reported by BGNES and BTA.

The Ministry's statement follows remarks by North Macedonia's Foreign Minister, Timčo Mucunski, who insisted that the EU participate in future talks with Bulgaria, suggesting this could occur through individual member states or European institutions.

With these comments, North Macedonia's top diplomat once again attempted to imply that the country's stalled European integration stems from a bilateral dispute, whereas the government in Skopje itself refuses to meet the European conditions for opening negotiations, the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry said.
