"Bulgarian Voices – The Angels" to perform at Vienna’s Porgy & Bess

Bulgarian Voices – The Angels will bring Bulgarian folk and Orthodox music to Vienna’s Porgy & Bess club on November 1, with 24 singers taking the stage under conductor Katya Barulova.

Founded in 1991, the internationally known women’s choir is recognised for its distinctive polyphonic sound and interpretations of Bulgarian folk and Orthodox music, Melange Bulgaren, the blog of Bulgarians in Austria, reported.

The ensemble has worked on ethno projects with major international artists including Adriano Celentano, Phil Collins, Nigel Kennedy and Bobby McFerrin, who have drawn inspiration from the distinctive sound of Bulgarian vocal music.

The Vienna concert is organised jointly by the Bulgarian Cultural Institute Haus Wittgenstein and Porgy & Bess.
