Municipalities in Bulgaria will keep registers of electric scooters

The government has adopted an ordinance regulating the registration of individual electric vehicles by municipalities, reporter Tsvetelina Stoyanova reports. A register will be maintained of the vehicles and their owners, with changes such as the termination and restoration of registration also being recorded.

The register was provided for under the Road Traffic Act. The aim is to enhance safety and improve oversight by enabling the identification of vehicles and their owners.

Part of the ordinance will come into force 12 months after its promulgation, allowing municipalities time to put in place the necessary arrangements for the new registration regime.
