Bulgarian businessman Iliyan Filipov shot dead in Plovdiv

Bulgarian businessman Iliyan Filipov, who was involved in the transport and construction industries, has been killed in Plovdiv. He was shot in the head.

Iliyan Filipov born was the founder and manager of PIMK, the country's largest transport company, which is also among Europe's top ten. He was also president of the Botev Plovdiv football club. His name is also associated with the construction of the Hristo Botev Stadium in Plovdiv.

According to a statement by Bulgaria's Interior Ministry, a report of a man who had been shot was received at around 1 a.m. at an address in a Plovdiv neighbourhood. His death was established at the scene, and an investigation into the serious crime has been launched.
