Bulgaria not only has a long-standing history in space exploration, science, and technology, but also has a well-deserved place in today’s joint efforts to develop European space capabilities, said Prime Minister Rumen Radev at the Euronews Defense and Space Summit in Brussels, according to the government press service.

The Prime Minister highlighted the country’s strong traditions in this field, as well as its recent achievements, with the Bulgarian company EnduroSat standing out as a prime example. He recalled that Bulgaria was the sixth country in the world to send a representative into Earth’s orbit. Radev also noted that just two decades ago, space was the exclusive domain for countries with enormous financial resources and industrial capacity. Advances in new technologies and artificial intelligence, however, had greatly expanded the available opportunities, the Bulgarian Prime Minister concluded.

“When Putin feels strong, he does not talk about nuclear weapons, but when Russia feels weak, talk of nuclear weapons start again. We need to have this into account. We cannot close our eyes (to the fact) that there are nuclear weapons on our continent, there are nuclear weapons in the arsenal of Russia. And this is part of the game calculation”, Radev said in an interview with “Euronews.”
