Bulgarian students win five medals at international astronomy Olympiad

Bulgarian students achieved remarkable success at the 19th International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA), held in Hanoi, Vietnam. The country’s five representatives won two gold medals, two silver medals, and one bronze medal, competing against around 320 students from dozens of countries around the world, the Ministry of Education said.
The gold medals went to Miroslav Draganov from the Academician Nikola Obreshkov High School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences in Burgas and Svetoslav Arabov from the High School of Mathematics-Varna. Martin Nedev from the Natural Sciences and Mathematics High School in Haskovo and Krasimir Stankov from the High School of Mathematics-Ruse won silver medals, while Anton Stoyanov from the High School of Mathematics-Varna won a bronze medal.
The Bulgarian national team was led by Nikola Karavasilev of the Union of Astronomers in Bulgaria and Miroslav Radomirov of the Faculty of Physics at Sofia University.
