Nearly 40,000 Bulgarians abroad have registered to vote in the October 25 presidential election, the Central Election Commission (CEC) said.

The commission has determined where polling stations will be opened abroad and how many will operate in each location. Political parties represented in parliament will hold consultations on October 8 on the composition of polling station commissions abroad, which the CEC must appoint by October 12.

Voting machines will be sent abroad as diplomatic cargo. They will be collected from storage and handed over to Foreign Ministry representatives for delivery to Bulgarian embassies and consulates. Each machine will travel in a sealed transport case, with its polling station, machine and seal numbers recorded in a handover document.
