MPs from GERB have officially alerted the European Commission over alleged document manipulation at the Road Infrastructure Agency (RIA). According to them, the alleged manipulation is intended to artificially increase the budget deficit for 2025 and reduce the deficit for 2026, BGNES reported.

“Yesterday, we officially alerted the European Commission. Following verbal instructions from the Ministry of Finance, documents and certificates are being prepared at the Road Infrastructure Agency for activities due to be accepted and accounted for in 2026. However, documents and certificates are being created on the basis of which these activities are being transferred to the expired 2025 budget year instead of being accounted for in 2026”,  GERB MP Temenuzhka Petkova said in Parliament.

“The aim is to improperly increase the deficit for the past fiscal year while reducing the scandalous budget deficit of 5.7% of the country’s GDP projected for 2026”, Petkova said.
