The toothless stance taken by the Consultative Council on National Security last week led to this. Bulgaria said nothing, and it happened again, Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS) leader Delyan Peevski told reporters, commenting on the latest attacks on merchant ships in the Black Sea near the Bulgarian coast.

“The policy of keeping a low profile towards Russia has failed to impress Putin. We saw what happened last night-more ships came under drone attack”, Ivaylo Mirchev, Deputy Chairperson of the parliamentary Committee on Defence and an MP from the Democratic Bulgaria coalition, told the Bulgarian National Radio. He also reported an incident in the past few hours involving Starlink antennas being set on fire in the Sofia area. According to him, this incident also bears the hallmarks of Russian sabotage.
