On October 14, the day on which the town honours its heavenly patron, St Petka, Troyan will celebrate its feast day with a rich programme of artistic events.

The day will begin with a festive episcopal liturgy at the Church of St Paraskeva Petka. Afterwards, visitors to the former Ottoman administrative building known as the Konak will be able to explore a photographic chronicle of the town, nestled in the foothills of the Stara Planina Mountains, drawn from the archive of Stefan Balevski.

At 11 a.m., the flag of Troyan will be ceremonially raised in Vazrazhdane Square. The Municipal Council will also hold a special session to present honorary insignia and awards to distinguished residents. The town’s newly appointed honorary citizens will receive their distinctions: Olympic medallist Lora Hristova and her teammate on Bulgaria’s national biathlon team, Milena Todorova, as well as artist Vladimir Kirov.

The autumn salon at Seryakova House Gallery, featuring the latest works by members of the Troyan Artists’ Association, is also part of the festivities. The celebrations will conclude with an open-air concert by the trio Déjà Vu.
