The Lukoil refinery in Burgas has sufficient crude oil supplies to last until mid-December, and there is no reason to panic. Prime Minister Rumen Radev gave this assurance during a hearing in the National Assembly.
According to him, the country has sufficient reserves. “There are 140,000 tonnes of petrol in storage, plus another 420,000 tonnes awaiting unloading from three tankers currently in Bulgarian territorial waters,” Radev said. He clarified that prices and insurance costs for these tankers had already been agreed, so no changes were expected.
“I want to assure Bulgarian citizens in the strongest possible terms that there is no reason to panic, no reason for hysteria or pre-election manipulation. There is diesel, and there will continue to be. Lukoil Neftochim is operating reliably and has sufficient crude oil supplies. Monthly consumption stands at 190,000 tonnes, while Lukoil produces around 250,000 tonnes a month, so we have no problem exporting. We have a surplus,” the prime minister said.
