Bulgaria's Premier: Stronger protection of EU’s external borders is crucial

Strengthening protection of the European Union’s external borders is crucial to Europe’s security and requires solidarity with and support for member states on the front line of efforts to combat illegal migration. Prime Minister Rumen Radev expressed this position at a high-level working meeting on migration held as part of the European Council in Brussels.

Achieving sustainable results in tackling illegal migration requires close cooperation with migrants’ countries of origin and improved mechanisms for returning them to their home countries, the BNR’s Brussels correspondent Angelina Piskova reported.
