Urban Wine Fest returns to Plovdiv today for two days of Bulgarian wine, local grape varieties, regional specialities, food and music. Held ahead of International Mavrud Day, the festival will take place in Central Square and on the bridge over Gladstone Street.
This year's theme, "Message in a Bottle", puts the stories behind Bulgarian wines in the spotlight – where they come from, the grapes used to make them, the people who produce them and the character of the country's different wine regions.
Visitors can sample more than 40 Bulgarian wines at the festival's wine bar, while local food producers will offer a range of culinary specialities. A varied programme of live music will add to the atmosphere.
The festival is supported financially by Plovdiv Municipality and forms part of the city's cultural calendar.
