In an open letter to the political groups in the European Parliament (EP), Prime Minister Rumen Radev says that, at the last minute, unfounded and manipulative insinuations about the Bulgarian government were added to an EP resolution expressing solidarity with Bulgaria’s efforts to investigate drone attacks on commercial vessels in the Black Sea.

The government press service quotes the Prime Minister as saying that “at a time when all the government’s efforts are focused on addressing critical national security issues, the EP is being used as a tool by Bulgarian MEPs with limited political legitimacy in their own country to run a doomed election campaign at the national level.”

The EP resolution is not legally binding. According to the Prime Minister, it is both telling and regrettable that the names of Bulgarian Members of the European Parliament appear among those who submitted the resolution, the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) reports.
