Levski Sofia claimed their first victory in the main phase of the Europa League, with a 2-1 away win over Viktoria Plzen in the third round of the competition.

Everton Bala opened the scoring for Levski late in the first half after an evenly contested start. In the 53rd minute, Viktoria Plzen appealed for a penalty following a suspected handball by Marko Grujic. Following a VAR review, referee Alejandro Hernandez decided not to award a penalty kick. Viktoria Plzen equalised in the 62nd minute through Christophe Kabongo, but their celebrations lasted only three minutes. Reynaldo scored from close range to restore Levski’s lead at 2-1.

After three rounds, the Bulgarian team has four points in the Europa League’s main phase.

Bulgaria’s other representative in European competition, CSKA, drew 2-2 away to Nordsjaelland in the second round of the Conference League, the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) reported.
