So far, no reports of irregularities in the electoral process have been received, either in Bulgaria or abroad, BNR reporter Elena Beikova reports.
Voting is proceeding peacefully at the 613 polling stations in 60 countries that have already opened abroad. A total of 38,227 Bulgarian citizens are on the electoral rolls outside the country. Bulgarians who did not submit an application in advance will also be able to vote at a polling station of their choice by completing a declaration stating that they have not voted and will not vote elsewhere.
All of the nearly 12,000 polling stations in Bulgaria opened at the start of election day, said Central Election Commission spokesperson Stoyanka Balova. At three polling stations, located in the regions of Yambol, Haskovo and Ruse, voting has switched to paper ballots due to problems with the voting machines.
The Central Election Commission will announce the official results and the names of the newly elected presidential and vice-presidential candidates, or the candidates who will proceed to a runoff, within 48 hours of election day.
