Voting abroad in Bulgaria’s presidential and vice-presidential election began at 9 p.m. Bulgarian time on Saturday and will continue until 5 a.m. on Monday. The first Bulgarians to cast their ballots were in Auckland, New Zealand, while the last to vote will be Bulgarian citizens in the US states of California and Nevada.
Bulgaria votes to elect President and Vice President
A total of 38,227 Bulgarian citizens are included on the electoral rolls abroad. Voters listed on the preliminary electoral rolls do not need to complete a declaration before the members of the precinct election commission on election day. Bulgarians who did not submit an application to vote abroad in advance may also cast their ballots at a polling station of their choice outside the country. However, they must submit a standard declaration to the precinct election commission confirming that they meet the eligibility requirements, have not voted and will not vote elsewhere.
Information on polling station addresses in individual countries is available on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, under the section “Presidential and Vice-Presidential Elections in the Republic of Bulgaria, 25 October 2026”: https://www.mfa.bg/bg/izbori-2026.
Bulgaria’s diplomatic and consular missions are maintaining regular contact with local authorities and stand ready to provide assistance should any difficulties arise on election day.
