Voting in the first round of Bulgaria’s presidential election abroad ended at 5 a.m. Bulgarian time on 26 October. The last to cast their ballots were Bulgarians at polling stations in the US states of Arizona, California, Nevada and Washington, as well as in the Canadian city of Vancouver. According to information from Bulgaria’s diplomatic and consular missions, all polling stations around the world completed their work successfully, the Foreign Ministry reports.

Bulgarian citizens were able to vote at a total of 613 polling stations in 60 countries, with the largest number located in Europe. There were 44 polling stations in the United States and 15 in Canada.

Bulgarians abroad had the opportunity to exercise their right to vote from the west coast of the United States and Canada to Osaka in Japan, Singapore and Auckland in New Zealand, and from Tromsø in northern Norway to the Republic of South Africa.

Voting was also organised in countries where Bulgaria has no diplomatic or consular missions, including Iceland, New Zealand, Singapore, Malta and Luxembourg.
