Water analyses in three areas along the Bulgarian Black Sea coast have detected no petroleum products following vessel-related incidents, according to the results of regular tests conducted along the entire coastline by the Black Sea Basin Directorate. No oil slicks were observed during the inspections, and the water appeared visually clean and clear.
Elevated levels of ammonium nitrogen were detected in the Sozopol area. All other parameters tested at the three sampling sites were within the applicable limits and quality standards.
The Black Sea Basin Directorate said the elevated levels could not be attributed to the vessel-related incidents in the Black Sea. However, water sampling and testing will continue.
