The Bulgarian government will present its draft budget for 2027 next week, Prime Minister Rumen Radev announced at the opening of the Sofia Economic Forum.
Radev warned that deepening global military, economic and technological crises were affecting everyone. He said the war in Ukraine had long since gone beyond a conflict between two countries, becoming a global confrontation and a war of attrition.
The prime minister said Bulgaria needed to overcome its difficult economic and financial legacy more quickly, amid a continuing decline in foreign direct investment and industrial exports. He identified protecting incomes, addressing demographic challenges and supporting investment to boost economic growth as key government priorities.
Meanwhile, Asen Vasilev, leader of We Continue the Change (PP), accused the government of withholding details of the budget until after the second round of the presidential election on 1 November. He warned that the government would miss the legal deadline of 31 October for submitting the draft budget to parliament.
