German MEP Sergey Lagodinsky, a member of the Greens/European Free Alliance group, has called on European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and EU Commissioner for Democracy, Justice, the Rule of Law and Consumer Protection Michael McGrath to examine the legality of the actions taken to remove the Facebook pages “Kopeykin”, “Puylo” and “BG Elves” on Saturday, BNR correspondent in Brussels Angelina Piskova reported.
Lagodinsky was behind the strongest criticism of the Bulgarian government in a resolution adopted by the European Parliament last week on Russian hybrid attacks in the Black Sea off the coasts of Bulgaria and Romania.
The Communications Regulation Commission said it had not yet received an official complaint regarding the removal of the satirical pages. After voting in the first round of the presidential election on October 25, Prime Minister Rumen Radev categorically denied that the government had anything to do with the removal of satirical Facebook pages.
