Funds from Bulgaria’s second-pillar pension system will be invested in road construction projects across the country, generating returns for contributors. The move is part of the government’s strategy for developing the Bulgarian economy, presented by Prime Minister Rumen Radev at the seventh Sofia Economic Forum, organised by the Delphi Economic Forum.
On October 23, Rumen Radev met with representatives of private pension funds and the Bulgarian Stock Exchange. A National Investment Company will be established to mobilise capital, the prime minister explained.
Bulgaria is negotiating with Greece to acquire a stake in the port of Kavala, Minister of Transport and Communications Georgi Peev announced at the forum. In his words, such a stake would help expand transport and logistics capacity along the route to the Aegean Sea, as part of efforts to improve connectivity between Bulgaria, Greece and Romania, according to 24chasa.bg and trud.bg.
