A slight increase in voter turnout is being observed in the second round of the presidential election, despite participation remaining low, Boryana Dimitrova of Alpha Research told BNR. As of 12:00 p.m., 9.6% of eligible voters had cast their ballots, compared with 8.6% at the same time during the first round. According to the sociologist, turnout in the runoff is expected to be slightly higher than last week.

Voter turnout in Bulgaria’s presidential election stood at 6.8% as of 11:00 a.m.,according to data from the Myara polling agency.

Voter turnout across the country stood at 3% as of 10:00 a.m., according to Alpha Research.

Voter turnout stood at around 2% as of 9:00 a.m., roughly the same level as at the corresponding time last Sunday, when the first round of the presidential election was held, Genoveva Petrova of Alpha Research told the Bulgarian National Radio.

She added that there were reasons to expect voter turnout to pick up, although this did not necessarily mean it would reach particularly high levels. Voter turnout in the first round was just 22.98%.

Voter turnout in Bulgaria stood at 2.1% as of 9:00 a.m., according to data from the Myara polling agency.

The candidate who receives the highest number of votes will be declared the winner, regardless of voter turnout in the runoff.
