Vesela Lecheva to run for president of International Shooting Sport Federation

Bulgarian Olympic Committee President Vesela Lecheva has officially announced that she will run for president of the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF), BTA reports.

The former world champion and Olympic silver medallist in rifle shooting faces three other candidates: current ISSF President Luciano Rossi, European Shooting Confederation President Alexander Ratner and Ukraine’s Konstantin Pivovarov.

The election congress will be held in Rome on 13 and 14 December.

“For me, shooting is much more than a sporting career. It has been a lifelong journey that has shaped me as a person… I believe that when a sport has given you so much, you have a responsibility to give something meaningful back,” Lecheva wrote on Facebook, explaining her decision to stand.
