The price of natural gas in Bulgaria has risen by 32.52%, bringing the cost of one megawatt-hour this month to €58.43, excluding fees and taxes.

The state regulator - the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission - postponed its decision until after the second round of the presidential election on November 1, citing the expectation that Bulgargaz would seek to identify reserves to moderate the initially requested 34% increase. Nevertheless, the difference between the proposed and approved increases is only around one percentage point.

Meanwhile, the energy regulator has once again assured consumers that it will not allow household electricity and district heating prices to rise midway through the heating season, BNR reporter Yuliana Kornazheva reports.
