A plane from Israel has landed at Sofia Airport following a threat received by email, Interior Ministry Secretary General Lyubomir Nikolov said, BNR’s Horizont programme reports. Officers from the specialised counter-terrorism unit are checking for possible explosive devices.
Commenting on yesterday’s bomb threat, Nikolov said efforts to identify the sender were continuing. “The unfortunate thing is that they have started targeting certain airlines, forcing aircraft to change course and requiring the necessary measures to be taken,” Nikolov said, as quoted by BTA.
Yesterday, a Wizz Air flight from London Luton to Sofia was diverted to Budapest after a bomb threat was received during the flight. Following checks, the aircraft continued to Sofia.
