Bulgaria’s Foreign Minister, Georg Georgiev, held a bilateral meeting with his Canadian counterpart, Anita Anand, on the sidelines of the Meeting of NATO Ministers of Foreign Affairs in Brussels.

The bilateral meeting was initiated by Bulgaria as part of joint efforts to strengthen political dialogue at a high level with Canada.
The two ministers agreed that 2026, the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, would be an ideal time to strengthen their partnership further.

Mr Georgiev also expressed his gratitude for Canada’s participation in the Black Sea Mine Countermeasures (MCM) Initiative. The ministers also discussed opportunities to expand investment in sectors key to Bulgaria, including energy, high technology, innovation and infrastructure.
