“I will do it when you least expect it.” With these words, President Rumen Radev responded to a question that has stirred public debate for months - whether he is prepared to launch his own political project from the presidential institution.

The Bulgarian head of state also commented on the draft state budget, calling it “a postponed fraud”, because the greater burden on businesses and citizens would be felt from 2027.

“One of the reasons people are in the streets is that no matter what the numbers in the budget look like, as long as they remain in the hands of the same oligarchs, Bulgarians do not believe that this budget will be spent in their interest,” he said, quoted by BTA.

Regarding the mass protest against the government, accompanied by vandalism, Radev stated that Bulgarians are outraged by the arrogance, hauteur, and provocations engineered by oligarchs to discredit the discontent of free citizens.

“At this moment, the security and specialized structures of the Interior Ministry are being harnessed by these same oligarchs against their political opponents - this is a gross abuse of power and accountability will be sought,” Radev emphasized.
