“We Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria” (PP-DB) called on the government to resign immediately. “We address Rosen Zhelyazkov – if he still has any dignity left, he should come to parliament and submit the resignation of the cabinet”, said MP Ivaylo Mirchev, Co-chair of ''Yes, Bulgaria!''.

“I sincerely hope that today all MPs who are to press the button at 1:30 PM, whether to support the government or to cast a no-confidence vote, will listen to the people who were in the squares yesterday. They have one demand – resignation”, MP Assen Vassilev, Chairman of We Continue the Change, told journalists.

Regarding last night’s anti-government protest, Assen Vassilev said that 150,000 people gathering in one place is unprecedented in Bulgaria’s modern history. “Over 80% of Bulgarians want this government to resign, including people who have voted for There Is Such a People (ITN) and the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP)”, added Assen Vassilev.

Assen Vassilev also said that elections are needed as soon as possible so that the people who are protesting outside can go and cast their votes. He predicted a voter turnout that would give legitimacy to a new government. However, if the people are ignored, even larger protests will follow, the MP warned.

To ensure fair elections, people must participate in the electoral process as observers and members of polling station commissions, Assen Vassilev emphasized.
