The “Vazrazhdane” party will submit a draft resolution to the National Assembly obliging the Council of Ministers to request a one-year delay in Bulgaria’s entry into the Eurozone, the party leader Kostadin Kostadinov announced.
According to the MP, Article 5 of the Treaty of Accession, adopted in July 2005, granted the country a derogation from joining the Eurozone, which was repealed on July 8 this year. He stated that the country has the right to request an extension of the derogation until January 1, 2027, due to a force majeure event.
“In law, there is a term called ‘force majeure’. This force majeure that has occurred in our country is the fact that, unlike all other countries that have joined the Eurozone so far, we are set to enter not only without a regular government but also without a budget”, said Kostadin Kostadinov.
''Vazrazhdane'' is calling on President Rumen Radev to urgently convene the Consultative Council on National Security due to the risks of introducing the euro under the current circumstances. They also demand that the lev banknotes be preserved in the Bulgarian National Bank after January 1, BNR’s reporter Maria Fileva informed.
