The stranded oil tanker Kairos set off this morning from the area near Ahtopol, towed by three tugboats, BNR’s reporter in Burgas Daniela Kostadinova informed. It will be moved to the Burgas Bay and will remain there until the shipowner announces what actions will be taken.
The vessel, which weighs 80,000 tons, had been anchored near Ahtopol for over a week. The state allocated BGN 1.2 million (EUR 613,550) for its safe removal and will seek reimbursement from the owner of Kairos.
The tanker is expected to dock near Burgas around 8:00 pm today.
