The 2026 budget has not been withdrawn and remains with the Parliament's Registry Office. It has been reviewed by committees and may be put to a first vote at tomorrow’s Presiding Council meeting, pending political party agreement.
Denitsa Sacheva, deputy chair of the GERB-SDS parliamentary group, made this statement to BNR today. According to Sacheva, GERB is determined to ensure Bulgaria enters 2026 with an approved budget, whether it is a rollover or a full budget.
“Without a budget, the chaos will be felt as early as 2 January. Since we lack a constructive opposition, and instead have individuals whose behaviour and rhetoric resemble that of a hooligan group, we are desperately trying to preserve what little common sense remains,” she said.
