Bulgarian diplomat and former UN envoy to the Middle East Nickolay Mladenov stated that it is a great honor and a massive responsibility for him and his team to be part of the Board of Peace, formed by U.S. President Donald Trump, BTA reports.

"For too long, Gazans, Palestinians, and Israelis have lived in conflict, death, and destruction. Now the new page turns, and whether the page turns successfully really depends on all of us", Nickolay Mladenov said, calling on skeptical observers to put away "their talking points, their fears, and their concerns."

"Welcome aboard, Bulgaria — together we will advance the cause of peace in our world", read a greeting from the U.S. Embassy Sofia, posted on Facebook after outgoing Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov signed the Charter of the Board of Peace.
