Traffic at several border checkpoints has been temporarily restricted due to strike actions by transport operators in Serbia and the Republic of North Macedonia.
As of 1:00 p.m., the entry into Bulgaria of vehicles over 3.5 tons has been temporarily restricted at the border checkpoints “Vrashka Chuka”, “Bregovo”, “Strezimirovtsi”, “Gyueshevo”, “Delchevo”, and “Zlatarevo”, the Road Infrastructure Agency announced.
The reason for the restrictions is protests by hauliers in the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of North Macedonia. The “Kalotina” border checkpoint is closed in both directions to vehicles over 3.5 tons.
As of 12:00 a.m. on January 27, 2026, the exit from Bulgaria through these border checkpoints will also be closed, the Road Infrastructure Agency added. The protest is expected to last up to seven days, though it may end earlier if the issues prompting it are resolved.
North Macedonia’s Minister of Transport Aleksandar Nikoloski supported the border blockade organized by the country’s hauliers, BTA reported.
