EU Council allocates funds to Bulgaria under the EU's SAFE instrument

Bulgaria will receive ЕUR 490 million under the EU’s Security Action for Europe (SAFE) instrument, reported BNR’s correspondent in Brussels, Angelina Piskova. The funds are intended for investment in defense industry production through joint public procurement.

The Council approved a package of decisions to provide the financial aid, following a positive assessment by the European Commission of the member states’ national defense investment plans. The maximum loan Bulgaria could access under the program exceeds EUR 3.26 billion.
