Bulgaria’s National Assembly has terminated Anton Slavchev’s powers as Deputy Chair of the Anti-Corruption and Illegal Assets Forfeiture Commission. The resignation request was submitted on February 11, announced the Speaker of the National Assembly, Raya Nazaryan.

203 MPs voted in favor and one MP voted against. No MPs abstained. MP Ivaylo Mirchev from ''We Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria'' called for Anton Slavchev to appear in the plenary hall. “This is the person who organized the arrest of the mayor of Varna, a series of interrogations, and who made employees of the Anti-Corruption Commission to pressure witnesses”, Mirchev said, requesting that Slavchev come to the plenary and explain his actions.

National Assembly Deputy Speaker Kostadin Angelov reminded Ivaylo Mirchev that when their coalition was collecting signatures for Slavchev’s resignation, GERB leader Boyko Borisov had also signed.
