“We registered on February 28 and sent an email. The organization by the embassy in Abu Dhabi was excellent. They informed us about the group and told us where to go and at what time,” one evacuee told the Bulgarian National Radio (BNR).
Before the two evacuation flights, a regular FlyDubai flight - originally scheduled for Friday - also arrived at Sofia Airport. Passengers were informed at the last minute that the flight would depart earlier and that they could revalidate their tickets for it.
On Wednesday, March 4, another 180 Bulgarian citizens arrived from Dubai on a flight organized by a tour operator based in Varna.
About 100 Bulgarians vacationing in the Maldives are experiencing difficulties returning home due to problems booking airline seats.
