Around 140 passengers arrived at Vasil Levski Sofia Airport on a low-cost airline flight from Muscat, the capital of Oman. The repatriation flight carried Wizz Air crew members of various nationalities and their families who had been stranded in the Middle East due to the escalating conflict.
In an official statement to BTA, Wizz Air said that “the repatriation flight from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) via Muscat to Sofia was arranged to assist colleagues who were in the region and were unable to return due to the rapidly changing situation and airspace restrictions.”
The airline added that it had been assessing whether similar flights could also be offered to passengers and that it continued to explore all viable options while remaining in close coordination with the relevant authorities in multiple countries, reported BTA.
