Dr. Milen Vrabevski and the Bulgarian Memory Foundation organized and funded another round of free medical examinations for families with reproductive issues in the Albanian town of Korçë, a region known for its high concentration of ethnic Bulgarians. The check-ups were carried out in partnership with the Iskam Bebe (I want a baby) Foundation and a team from a medical center in Sofia.

“This time, only women and families with severe difficulties in conceiving or carrying a pregnancy to term approached us. We noticed shortcomings in the preparation and in the procedures themselves, which required us to give specific recommendations. If these are followed, the results could be significantly better. Bulgarian reproductive medicine is at a high European level - in legislation, clinics, specialists, and equipment alike. I hope we have been helpful and have given these people not only medical information but also a new way to accept their condition,” commented Dr. Georgi Nikolov, as quoted by tribuna.mk.

During the official opening, the Bulgarian team symbolically planted an olive tree - a sign of a new beginning, life, and hope. The free examinations included specialized consultations, ultrasound scans, and other tests. Over the two days, patients received much more than medical care - they left with renewed hope that their dream of becoming parents is still alive.

The event was supported by the Embassy of Bulgaria in Tirana, and once again hosted by the Balkan medical clinic in Korça.

For 20 years, combating the demographic crisis and investing in reproductive health have been central causes of the Bulgarian Memory Foundation. During this period, 46 children have been born with the foundation’s support, and two more are on the way.
