At this stage, there is no direct threat to Bulgaria, only an indirect one. Iran is attacking Gulf countries, including some where there are no American aircraft, said Bulgarian caretaker Foreign Minister Nadezhda Neynsky in an interview with the Bulgarian National Television.
“We have allowed NATO aircraft to land in Sofia for training purposes. They were accepted following an official note received from the U.S. Embassy,” Neynsky explained regarding the presence of US planes in Bulgaria.

She added that, given the constantly changing geopolitical situation, it is important that the mandate of these aircraft remains unchanged and limited strictly to training activities. No permission has been granted for the aircraft on Bulgarian territory to be used for military operations, and the country’s airspace has been provided solely for training purposes.
No request to alter these conditions has been submitted. If such a request is made, it will be debated in parliament, the caretaker foreign minister added.
